My amazing friend, fellow blogger and passionate mental health advocate, Cara, recently launched a shop. There are a number of great items available, including a pocket self-care kit.
I think the idea of this is so, so cute! You have everything you need for some self-care… but in miniature!
The pocket self-care kit includes:
- One mini bath bomb
- A mini bottle of aromatherapy oil
- One scented wax melt
- A packet of succulent seeds [with instructions]
- Two teabags
- Three self-care cards
There was a really sweet aroma when I opened the box, so my first thought was “wow, something smells amazing”. Closely followed by a squeak of delight at how adorably tiny some of the things are. Miniature versions of things are always so much cuter.
I realised it was the bath bomb making everything smell delightful, so I’m looking forward to giving that a go. I tend to choose showers over baths, but this is the perfect excuse for a soak in the tub.
As I said in my post about getting organised, I now have time scheduled in my week for self-care. One of my favourite things to do is make a cup of tea, put my feet up and watch something on TV. So, those tea bags are definitely going to come in handy!
I LOVE these cards, particularly the one which says “you deserve to be kind to yourself.” This is something I have been working on over the last few months, with the help of my counsellor. So, it’s good for me to have this card so I don’t forget.
The self-care cards are roughly credit card sized so you can pop them in the purse if you want to always have a pick-me-up with you wherever you go. You can purchase them separately in a set of 10 for £4 if you prefer.
I’d like to highlight the fact Cara is donating a portion of the earnings from these kits to Mind, a U.K. mental health charity, which I think is absolutely fantastic. By purchasing this product, not only are you helping yourself through self-care, but you’re helping others, too.
Cara has thought of everything, including choosing a plant which requires as little care as possible. When you have a mental illness, it can be hard to take care of yourself, never mind anything else. So, I think a succulent is a great choice. You can forget about it for a few days and it won’t be the end of the world.
In her store, Cara also has some body positivity stickers available. These says things like “you are beautiful”, “don’t let your mind bully your body” and “all bodies are good bodies.” She was kind enough to include a few with my pocket self-care kit, and I adore them! You can get a set of 10 for £2 or a set of 20 for £3. They’re perfect if, like me, you sometimes need a reminder that your thoughts about your body are not necessarily facts.
If you purchase the body positivity stickers, a small donation also goes to BEAT – an eating disorder charity.
I can’t lie, receiving this little package in the post was a nice little boost. If there’s someone in your life who you think needs a nudge towards self-care, sending them this sweet kit would be a great way to go about it. Alternatively, treat yourself because you deserve it!
The pocket self-care kit is £8 and you can order one on Etsy, or through the shop on Cara’s blog. She is adding new items in the near future, including a pocket Christmas kit which I am SUPER excited to see.
On a personal note, I want to say: Cara, congratulations on your shop. I really am so proud of you and what you’re doing. The fact you are donating some of the money you earn to various mental health charities proves what an angel you are. I wish you every success and can’t wait to see what the future brings!
